Composite Decking vs Traditional Decking
Timber decking is still popular due to the lower initial costs, but composite decking is fast proving to be the more sustainable product.
Timber decking has a shorter life span and requires a lot of regular maintenance and upkeep. For most projects, we usually recommend composite decking from one of the top brands – Trex or BuildDeck (we are approved installers for these manufacturers). Products from these leading brands are manufactured to the highest quality and come with a 25-year+ warranty. They also offer a wide range of colours and variations.
However, if a particular job (or customer) requires timber decking for any reason, we can still supply and install it to the highest professional standard.
When designing any decking, the importance of having a well-constructed and supported substructure/frame is key. With the development of composite and aluminium framing, these products have a far longer life span, outweighing timber that will eventually rot. These are especially useful when used around rooftop gardens, balconies, and swimming pools etc, which are exposed to damp conditions. Our team are more than happy to advise the correct requirements when undertaking any project.
